Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES) Chet Calendar Remake
As seen in the Monroe County DES 2007 Annual Newsletter

For the past decade, our Chet the Cheetah has spent his time educating third graders about the 3R’s in recycling. About a year ago, Pat Collins, Russ Rutkowski and Kimie Romeo decided that it was time for Chet to graduate into the fourth grade. This decision came after careful consideration of the New York State Standards for Leaning in the four core subject areas (Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies). Chet’s moving up began with small step in transition for the last calendar year and was completed with the design and printing of the 2007-2008 Chet Calendar by TrueNorth Marketing.
The new look is energized, inviting and gives the audience (4th graders) allot to look at and learn from all at the same time (don’t panic, as that is how a typical 10-year-old learns). The content is rich with grade level vocabulary (words like: excess, manufactured, pieces), math facts (addition with place values, solving simple word problems), the scientific method (asking questions and then trying to come up with the answers), and social studies (references to local points of interest). Chet himself has a new look, having graduated out of a drawing and into the real world.
