A true subject of my generation I am a social networking addict. Maintaining profiles on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more I’m connected to friends, family and people from all over the world, some I quite frankly don’t even know. As such, I’ve been excited to see companies starting to take interest in using social media technology in order to expand their marketing communications. Many are beginning to develop Facebook pages, encouraging their customers to become “fans.” These fans help spread brand and company awareness through their own variously connected networks.  However, this is just the beginning on where this new technology is going to be able to take us from a marketing perspective.

We are pretty sure that most people know Google offers a wide variety of applications from Adsense to word processing. Some of these are heavily geared towards larger businesses but many are geared towards smaller businesses. While most of these are really great and should be used by any business, there are a few out there that should not be. Chances are you have no idea which ones are which.

What is Twitter

Many people in the B2B world are still very new to Social Networks and marketing. Twitter is becoming more and more of a household name in that arena. Basically the idea of Twitter is for individuals to engage in short conversations with one another that are open for all to join in on. It takes the idea of social media and amplifies it.

One of the largest tasks we face everyday at work is how to find information faster. We all know that if you put in a search in Google you will be met with paid ads and about a million results that are really nothing but crap. So most of your time is spent sifting through it all to find what you are looking for. TrueNorth has a couple nifty tricks for you to help speed up your search as well as come up with more qualified results.

As a creative professional you must always be striving to be creative but also better at what you do. In today’s industry that means being more proficient with the software you are using.

SGPP is a new green print certification. Here’s the journey we took to adopt it.

Monroe Litho, printing, sustainablityMonroe Litho is gaining recognition as one of the leading environmentally friendly printers in the U.S. Quietly, gradually, from our plant in Rochester, NY, we believe we have gained a solid reputation for quality and reliability among top-level clients, such as Bausch and Lomb, Carestream Health, Cornell University, Kodak and Mercedes Benz. In 2004, our company took the first steps toward adopting environmentally sensitive operations, launching a “Go Green” program. In December 2008, we were awarded a brand new verification of our attainment of green printing practices, when the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership verified that we are a green printer.

FUBAR

Ashley, our Chief Executive Intern, gave a blank look when I mentioned our mailing list was FUBAR. Is this a good thing or bad thing? Hence the ensuing weeks of cleaning house that would make Martha proud. After a flurry of scrubbing, adding, deleting and spit-polishing, the List is Shiny. It has Potential. A solid Gold foundation to build on. And you, dear reader, are Gold.

It’s probably no surprise that the process of acquiring new customers comes with one of the higher price tags of any of your marketing initiatives. The value of growing your customer base is obvious: the potential to sell more products or services. Moreover, increasing customer loyalty will reduce your marketing costs by providing you with a growing number of prospects and customers that can be easily and efficiently communicated with.

Wall Street had a stormy 2008, but there is a silver lining: Industry leaders are now turning to all things “eco” as a new source of (genuine?) green. Here are the top five green marketing stories from a volatile year—and what they may mean for your business in 2009.
